Butterfly Project Volunteer / Educator
Rearing native Lepidoptera species in our Butterfly House is an important part of the center’s work with native plants. Butterfly Project Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the native plant garden surrounding the Butterfly House as well as caring for butterflies during all stages of development: caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult prior to release. Their care involves feeding and cleaning out enclosures for caterpillars. Volunteer Butterfly Project Educators participate in this, too, in addition to leading weekend education tours for visitors.
