The Sharon Audubon Center Summer Nature Programs offer week-long themed and general nature camps for children ages 3-11. The programs have a small student to teacher ratio and are interactive, educational and lots of fun! Each session includes outdoor exploration, hikes, live animal programs, hands-on activities and experiments, games and crafts, so there is something for everyone since children have a variety of interests. The Sharon Audubon Center Summer Nature Program is a Connecticut state certified day camp.

Early Childhood Discovery (for children ages 3-4 at time of camp)
This program brings parents and their young children together to jiggle, fiddle with and experience the outdoors in an interactive, yet safe way. Activities and crafts focus on helping parents introduce their children to the wonders of the natural world through the use of the five senses, while providing parents with skills and project ideas that can be used long after the program is over. This program is great for those little first time campers! Start their respect for nature early!
Wee Explorers (for children 4-5 years old at time of camp)
Wee Explorers have the opportunity to choose from five different camp sessions, including Aquatic Adventures, which is so popular and so much fun that we have to offer it twice each summer. Other sessions include Nature Detectives, which is a general nature camp that covers a variety of topics rather than one theme, No Place Like Home, which focuses on habitats the critters that live there, and Animal Boogie, which focuses on how and why animals move the way they do! Each Wee Explorer session meets for three ho urs a day.
Explorers I (6-8 years old at time of camp)
Explorers I campers have some new options in 2009. The Wonders of Water session will be offered as a full day camp for the first time this year, allowing even more time to delve into the real wonders of the water! Those Things with Wings and Junior Explorers are both back again this year and a new session has been added, called "Crunch, Munch, What's for Lunch?" This week will feature how and what animals eat.

Explorers II (9-11 years old at time of camp)
A little less game-playing and a little more project experimentation and responsibility make up the Explorer II sessions, although still a lot of fun! Bird's the Word is back for its second year. If you like birds, you certainly don't want to miss this week! Audubon Animal Caretakers has been the most popular summer camp program the Center has ever offered. During this week, students have the opportunitiy to feed and even handle some of the Center's exhibit animals. And, if you would like to hike, can find your way around the woods, and enjoy shelter building, then the brand new session "Outdoor Suvival 101" is for you!
There are so many exciting possibilities for this year’s Audubon Summer Programs, you won’t want to miss out on all the fun! Although many weeks are "themed," certain popular activities (such as a live bird presentation and pond exploration) are offered during every week. Parents may register their child(ren) for one or multiple theme weeks, but spaces are filled on a first come, first served basis. Each camp session is limited to 12 campers.
